Stilwell & Associates and MicroMain announce alliance

(January 13, 2004) AUSTIN, TX and VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — MicroMain Corporation, a leading provider of asset and facility management software and services, and Stilwell & Associates, a leading developer of Maintenance Safety Software, today announced their new strategic alliance. With this alliance, customers will be able to take advantage of an integrated maintenance and safety management system.

MicroMain’s flagship product, MicroMain XM™, is a computerized maintenance management (CMMS)/enterprise asset management (EAM) system. MicroMain XM enables organizations to streamline maintenance operations with automated work orders, preventive maintenance scheduling, asset tracking and inventory control. The system’s reporting capabilities give managers and executives easy access to cost and trend information, allowing for better decision-making.

Stilwell & Associates develops TagLink Maintenance Safety Software (MSS) that integrates with MicroMain XM. A new class of industrial software, MSS was created to computerize the lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot work permit processes that create a safe environment for maintenance.

Lockout/tagout processes, for example, isolate energy and control machinery and equipment so that employees can perform maintenance tasks safely. Unexpected start-up of the machinery during maintenance could expose maintenance personnel to live energy hazards, leading to injury or death. Using locks and tags to isolate the machinery avoids those hazards. The TagLink software manages the daily operations for lockout/tagout, including automatically creating a history of lockout/tagout activity. The audit trail and the standardized process ensured by the software helps organizations comply with OSHA regulations while saving time and improving safety.

By integrating TagLink with MicroMain XM, customers have the ability to seamlessly complete all maintenance tasks—from permitting, site and equipment preparation, repair and maintenance work, to return to operational status. This integrated system usually reduces the number of steps in maintenance procedures. It also increases the level of detail in record-keeping and reporting. The added benefit is that the entire process for any maintenance operation can be standardized across the organization and scrutinized by appropriate technical and management staff.

"Our strategic partnership with MicroMain allows the users of both applications to have access to an integrated maintenance and safety management system that will increase both productivity and safety," said Mark Banus, Executive Vice President at Stilwell & Associates. "In fact, the implementation of a MicroMain and TagLink system has the potential to save over 80 percent of the time required for the permitting and site preparation tasks for maintenance."

Until recently, many organizations spent significant time and labor resources designing safety processes and hand-writing permits, tags, and forms before maintenance could be performed. The gap between generating a maintenance work order and safely accomplishing the work is bridged with an integrated MicroMain XM-TagLink system.

"We’re always looking for ways to help customers improve their bottom line and turn maintenance into a profit center," said Pat Conroy, President of MicroMain Corporation. "With our new alliance with Stilwell & Associates, we are pleased to offer our customers an opportunity to extend the value of their MicroMain XM system. By integrating with TagLink, organizations will not only improve their safety processes, but also realize savings, both in time and costs."
